Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley has signed a new long-term contract, the club has confirmed on their official website.

The 26-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a four-and-a-half year deal which will see him remain at the City Ground until the summer of 2023.

Lolley has been in fine form this season for the Reds, netting eight goals and claiming seven assists.

His stunning performances in October earned him the PFA Player of the Month accolade.

The news will come as a pleasant surprise to Forest supporters who were starting to fear that Lolley might leave.

The Sun reported recently that boyhood club Aston Villa were considering a £12 million summer swoop.

Martin O’Neill clearly wants to build a team around Lolley and is delighted to have tied him down to a new deal.

The boss told the Nottingham Post: “In the couple of weeks we have been here, he has been a match-winner. He is a proper player and he wants to do well.

“I am delighted. This was, in fairness, something that the club were working on before I arrived. But I would certainly have verified the decision.”

This news has naturally delighted the club’s loyal supporters who have taken to Twitter.
