Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall made his 100th career appearance on Friday night.

The central defender played the full 90 minutes as his temporary club Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Hibernian.

Worrall has become one of Steven Gerrard’s most important players this season, featuring in 28 games in all competitions.

The 22-year-old is an academy graduate at the City Ground and has already had a taste of first-team football.

There is real hope that Worrall can return to Trentside in the summer and challenge for a place in Martin O’Neill’s team.

Rangers fans have taken to Worrall and they would probably welcome the chance to keep him.

That doesn’t seem likely though, with the defender set for a bright future.

There is enough to suggest that had O’Neill been in charge at the start of the season, he probably wouldn’t have been sanctioned a move to Scotland in the first place.

The Reds boss has already highlighted his willingness to give academy players their opportunity, with Ryan Yates becoming a regular in the team.

Following his 100th career game, Worrall took to Twitter to say:

Rangers fans were quick to congratulate their temporary performer.
