BBC Presenter Rob Maclean has heaped praise on Motherwell’s Gboly Ariyibi naming the on-loan Nottingham Forest man in his Team of the Week on the BBC website.
The American winger looks to have finally hit form and is clearly relishing the opportunity of regular football.
Ariyibi was signed for the Reds by interim boss Gary Brazil in January 2017.
He is yet to make an appearance for the first-team, however.
Loan spells with Northampton and MK Dons proved unsuccessful but he looks to have now found his feet.
During his nine appearances with the Well, he has scored one goal and created two assists; looking extremely lively in the process.
Maclean chooses a Scottish Premiership Team of the Week for the BBC website and the on-loan Forest man has been given the nod.
The presenter told the BBC website: “While we’ve been rightly raving about home-produced Motherwell youngsters David Turnbull and Jake Hastie, the quality contribution of Gboly Ariyibi has to be recognised as well.
“The on-loan Nottingham Forest winger was at his free-flowing best in the first half at Fir Park on Saturday and tore Hamilton to shreds.”
Seat Pitch Verdict
Maclean’s comments will intrigue Forest supporters.
Having never seen him kick a ball for the club he is still something of an unknown quantity.
Martin O’Neill has made no secret of his desire to give younger players a chance at the City Ground – provided they are good enough!
At 24, it really is a case of now or never for the American winger.
By the sounds of these latest comments, however, he is doing his chances no harm at all.
