Nottingham Forest’s play-off ambitions are intact by a thread following Saturday’s 2-1 reverse at Rotherham United.

The Reds were below-par in South Yorkshire and must bounce back tomorrow when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday.

Martin O’Neill is yet to win on the road since taking over from Aitor Karanka and desperately needs a morale-boosting three points.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Hillsborough showdown, we assess which players could get the nod to play.

Costel Pantilimon will start in goal, whilst changes could be made at the back.

Ben Osborn and Saidy Janko were the two full-backs at Rotherham but could be replaced by Tendayi Darikwa and Jack Robinson.

Yohan Benalouane and Molla Wague played at the heart of the back four and should continue here.

It seems certain at some point that Claudio Yacob will get the chance to stake his claim for a place in the team.

Ben Watson played on Saturday so he could be rested at Hillsborough.

Ryan Yates wasn’t in the squad at Rotherham and could come back into contention.

Jack Colback seems like the only banker to play in midfield right now.

In attack

Joe Lolley will almost certainly keep his place on one flank with Matty Cash on the other.

Arvin Appiah came off the bench on Saturday and could be vying for a starting berth.

In attack, it seems likely that Saturday’s goalscorer Lewis Grabban will start.

A change in shape could hand a starting chance to Joao Carvalho, although he seems out of favour right now.
