On-loan Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker has been rewarded for a stunning season at Mansfield Town by earning a place in the League Two Team of the Season.

The 22-year-old has 24 goals for the season and his selection in the Team of the Season was announced on Mansfield’s official Twitter page.

Four Stags made their way into the team. Walker was joined by CJ Hamilton, Kristian Pearce and Mal Benning.

It has been a stunning season for the lively frontman. His form has lifted Mansfield to second in the league, putting them firmly in contention for automatic promotion.

Walker’s boss at the Stags, David Flitcroft, is delighted with the youngster.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “He’s been really committed. Sometimes, loan signings get questioned, but I look at Ryan Sweeney, who came in and we turned the deal permanent because of his performances.

“I remember when we spoke to Tyler, sometimes the parent club wants to keep the player for pre-season, but he wanted to join the training camp in Portugal.”

The Seat Pitch Verdict

Walker has been in sensational form for Mansfield Town.

His form in front of goal has been devastating and he thoroughly deserves his place in the EFL League Two Team of the Season.

In earning rave plaudits he has done his chances of a first-team spot at Forest no harm at all.

With Daryl Murphy 36 next and Forest heavily reliant on the goals of Lewis Grabban, another lethal talisman would be a nice addition to the Reds squad.

Of course, League Two isn’t the Championship. The jury remains out on whether or not Walker can cut it scoring regularly in the second tier.

His form at One Call Stadium will have given his confidence the world of good, however.
