Nottingham Forest’s Under-23s finished their campaign in style last night with a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town.

Brennan Johnson was the star of the show for Jimmy Gilligan’s men. The son of former Forest striker, David, bagged a superb hat-trick with all three goals coming in the first half.

The younger Johnson is performing way above his years this season. The 17-year-old has been in good goalscoring form for the Under-23s with last night the tip of the iceberg.

One of his goals last night saw bend an unstoppable free-kick from over 25 yards into the top corner of Harry Wright’s net.

The future looks seriously bright for Johnson. Forest boast an impressive conveyor belt of talent and the teenager could be the next off the production line.

The Reds supporters have not had much to shout about at first-team level of late. Martin O’Neill’s men are currently on a run of three successive defeats.

One thing that fans are united with it the need to give more youngsters a pathway to play senior football. With Forest having very little left to play for this season, there is a possibility that Johnson could take his first-team bow before the campaign finishes.

Following his latest stunning performance, Reds supporters took to Twitter to rave about their latest emerging prospect.
