Nottingham Forest could enter the race to sign Nimes winger Sada Thioub again this summer, according to a report by French outlet Le 10 Sport.
The Reds were previously interested in the 23-year-old during the January transfer window and the latest report indicates there could well be interest in the summer.
Forest finished ninth during 2018/19. The league standing represented an improvement, although the consensus among supporters is that an opportunity was missed to reach the play-offs.
The speedy winger has scored three goals and created four assists this season. He typically operates on the right wing but is also comfortable on the left.
French reports claim that Forest’s interest in the highly-rated player is ‘serious’, and it remains to be seen if a move is made by the Reds.
The Seat Pitch Verdict
A move to sign Thioub probably won’t have too many Forest supporters putting bets on the Reds to be promoted next season.
Due to the fact that he is an unknown quantity, people will rightly be sceptical about his arrival.
The Reds do need a right-winger though. Joe Lolley has taken on the mantle of being Forest’s main wide threat this season and he could do with some help from the other flank.
If Forest can get the Nimes man on a relatively good deal then it might be worth making him part of the squad.
The recruitment people at the City Ground will hopefully have learned their lessons from last season, however. Gil Dias, Diogo Goncalves and Leo Bonatini all proved massive flops.
The jury will remain out on Trentside until Thioub has played a few games and rightly so.
It is fair to suggest that Forest supporters would prefer the club to go out and sign players already equipped to deal with the Championship, having played in the league before.
