Nottingham Forest will welcome Joe Worrall back into their ranks next season following his campaign on loan at Rangers.
The academy graduate was deemed surplus to requirements under former boss Aitor Karanka and opted to spend 2018/19 on loan at Ibrox.
Worrall played 32 games for the Gers during the season, including four in the Europa League. The experience of playing on big European nights at Ibrox will undoubtedly put him in good shape for next season.
The challenge for the 22-year-old now is to return to Forest and fight for a place in Martin O’Neill’s team. The central defensive department is strong at the moment and it will be interesting to see if the youngster can force his way into the team.
The Reds faithful have at times called for Worrall to earn a chance in the Reds team. He already has over 50 appearances to his name at Forest and it will be intriguing for fans to see how he has improved at Ibrox.
Although his performances at Rangers have sometimes been mixed, he has largely impressed the club’s supporters with his attitude and commitment to the cause.
Worrall took to Twitter to thank everyone associated with the Glaswegian giants, tweeting:
I’d like to say a massive thank you to @RangersFC for letting me play for your great club this season. From the fans, staff/players and the city of Glasgow, it has been a fantastic experience and the club has a special place in my heart 🇬🇧💙#WeAreThePeople pic.twitter.com/UJMWJJZeak
