Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley enjoyed a successful season in the Championship and is now being touted for a move to Aston Villa.

Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter aren’t too pleased to see that their star player Joe Lolley is a reported target for the newly-promoted side.

The Daily Mail have claimed that the Villans are eyeing a move for winger, who has been a hit since arriving at the City Ground around 18 months ago.

Given the fact that the Reds failed to win promotion themselves, Martin O’Neill could really do without a player of Lolley’s quality departing the club. He needs to strengthen his squad for next season, rather than weaken it.

But The Sun on Sunday (02/06) have more recently reported that the Reds have put a £15 million price-tag on the 26-year-old. This suggests that the Reds would be willing to let the winger move on for the right price.

The former Huddersfield Town man had his most productive season to date last time out. He picked up 11 goals and contributed 11 assists in the Championship. It would be a huge blow for the Reds to lose a player of his quality.

However, when a team from England’s top-flight begin to show interest, it can be very difficult to stop them from taking your star assets. Given that the winger is also a boyhood Aston Villa fan, it’s easy to see why Reds supporters are concerned.

‘Lack of ambition’

Here is a selection of Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter reacting to the speculation of the £15 million price-tag for their star man:

Following Villa’s promotion to the Premier League, they will be looking to improve their squad for the new season and their return to the big time. There’s no doubt that Lolley would be a quality addition.

It remains to be seen how this situation develops over the coming weeks. It’s fair to say that the Reds have a battle on their hands to keep hold of their star player.
