The vast majority of the Nottingham Forest squad and coaching staff are currently away enjoying summer breaks ahead of a gruelling pre-season schedule.

For some, however, the 2018/19 campaign hasn’t quite finished yet.

The 27-year-old qualifies for the African nation through his parents and will hope to add to his four caps during the tournament.

Darikwa and his team-mates face a thankless task first up. They will face Egypt who are not only the hosts but will also have Liverpool star Mohamed Salah spearheading their attack.

DR Congo and Uganda will make up the group and the Forest man will hope to reach the knockout stages with the team.

The Nottingham-born defender posted a tweet ahead of flying out to Egypt:

Ben Osborn was quick to offer Darikwa some words of motivation ahead of arguably the biggest moment of his career, replying with:

Typically, Forest fans were keen to get in on the act. Darikwa is a likeable member of the squad at the City Ground.

Several supporters responded to the tweet with good luck messages of their own.
