Sabri Lamouchi has only been in the Nottingham Forest managerial hot-seat for a matter of days, but is already targeting new additions.

According to the Nottingham Post, Feirense midfielder Tiago Silva is one of Nottingham Forest’s ‘primary targets’ this summer.

The Reds have already made one addition this summer. Sammy Ameobi arrived at the City Ground on a free transfer whilst Martin O’Neill was still in charge. It seems that Sabri Lamouchi is now keen to add his own targets to the squad.

The Reds could complete the signing of Silva soon, as he is expected to arrive next week, if all goes well. At this stage, it is not clear whether it would be a loan or permanent move.

Lamouchi is unlikely to be able to spend the same amount of money as Aitor Karanka did last summer. However, it may not cost too much to lure Silva to the Championship. It was a disappointing season for Feirense as they were relegated from the Primeira Liga. This may put them in a position in which they have to sell their star assets for less than they would’ve wanted.

Gifted

There is certainly room at the City Ground for another midfielder to be added. João Carvalho is arguably the only technically gifted attack-minded midfielder in the squad.

Although Silva is certainly technically gifted, he can play a deeper role than the £13 million man. If Lamouchi operates a 4-2-3-1 formation, then they’d both be able to feature in the starting line-up next season.

The 26-year-old does have an eye for goal, as well as a good passing range. He’d certainly be a quality addition to the squad. It would be interesting to see how he linked up with his compatriot Carvalho.

In this case, as Carvalho is still only 22-years-old, Silva is a lot further down the line in his career. That being said, he still has the ability to improve his game if he was to make the switch to the Championship.

And if the Reds were able to snap up the midfielder, either on loan or permanently, it would certainly generate excitement among the club’s supporters. This would be a welcome boost ahead of the new campaign.
