Nottingham Forest were reportedly interested in Jérémie Bela last season.

F.C. Nantes finished mid-table in Ligue 1 and are looking to add to their attacking options this summer. They have made two signings so far with Dennis Appiah and Alban Lafont arriving from Anderlecht and Fiorentina respectively.

However, although they are both good signings, they are yet to sign a forward player, but they’ve now found their new target.

Get French Football News note that Les Canaris are now interested in securing the signature of former Albacete star Jérémie Bela. However, La Liga side Alaves are also said to be interested. It may come down to whoever is willing to pay Bela the highest wages.

The forward is now a free agent after leaving Albacete last month, despite being offered a new deal.

Bela, 26, impressed last season with 12 goals for Queso Mećanico, and it’s clear to see why both Nantes and Alaves are interested in him. He would certainly be an exciting signing for either side.

Bela made his name in French football at Dijon FCO in Ligue 1. He scored 10 goals in 74 appearances over a three-year spell, which eventually resulted in him joining Albacete. He received a call-up to represent Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations this summer.

Avoid

Get French Football News have reported that both Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City sent scouts to watch Bela last season. However, he wasn’t able to impress either side. The Reds have now moved on to other targets under the management of Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds are targeting promotion to the Premier League next season, and they should really be looking elsewhere now. The 26-year-old’s record isn’t that impressive and he may struggle to adapt to the Championship quickly enough.

Bela is already 26-years-old, and whilst there is little risk involved with a free transfer, the Reds are looking for quality over quantity. He’d have to be significantly better than some of the forwards already at the club. The signing of Sammy Ameobi means that signing a forward is less of a priority for the time being.

The Reds should be out of the race for Bela at this stage, potentially leaving Nantes and Alaves clear in the race to sign him in a bargain move unless Lamouchi suddenly rekindles the club’s interest.
