Nottingham Forest have added Albert Adomah to their ranks following his release by Aston Villa at the end of last season, the club’s official website has confirmed.

His last act for Dean Smith’s team was to feature in the Play-Off Final victory over Derby County and the 31-year-old is Sabri Lamouchi’s fifth summer recruit.

Adomah is a proven Championship performer. He boasts the versatility to feature on either flank and still has enough in the tank to be a threat for the Reds.

Forest weren’t blessed with lots of wide options last season but already look in better shape going into the 2019/20 campaign. Adomah will join Joe Lolley, Matty Cash and recent recruit Sammy Ameobi as potential options next season.

The 19-cap Ghana international spent three years at Villa Park. He signed in 2016 and scored 22 times in 125 appearances for the club.

Adomah is a proven performer at Championship level and it will be interesting to see what impact he can have at the City Ground.

Seat Pitch Summary

The signing of the tricky winger is an interesting one for Forest.

Matty Cash was the main right-winger last season and if he can add consistency to his game he could become a top player.

This signing doesn’t do his first-team opportunities any favours, however.

Adomah isn’t likely to have put pen-to-paper without some sort of assurances over game time and that might force Cash down the pecking order.

The Championship is a long season and both will get chances but you’d expect the latest signing to be the first choice on the right-hand side.

Given that he only scored four goals and registered three assists last season, this latest addition might need to convince some Forest fans.

Nonetheless, the deal is relatively low risk. There is no outlay in the way of a transfer fee and Adomah’s promotion credentials might prove vital for the Reds next season.
