Nottingham Forest are thought to be keen on signing Bordeaux midfielder Younousse Sankhare, according to France Football.
The 29-year-old played 33 games for the French outfit last season, bagging four goals and registering five assists.
The signing of another midfielder would perhaps be considered a surprise.
Forest have already landed Alfa Semedo and Tiago Silva this summer; both of whom can operate in the middle of the park.
Add to that an ever-growing squad it does seem perhaps wide of the mark that Sabri Lamouchi wants to add this player to his squad.
Ben Watson, Liam Bridcutt, Claudio Yacob, Adlene Guedioura and Ryan Yates are already on the books on Trentside.
That leaves Forest with seven central midfielders on the books and adding Sankhare would seem a strange deal to do.
Forest still look light at right-back. Tendayi Darikwa is the only senior option with Sam Byram now back at West Ham United.
In attack, Lewis Grabban and Karim Ansarifard will spearhead, but an injury to one of those would leave Forest struggling. Daryl Murphy looks like being surplus (Irish Sun), whilst the jury remains out on Tyler Walker at Championship level.
Jack Colback was impressive last season and some supporters would love to see him back. Even he, however, shouldn’t be considered at this stage until other midfielders are moved along.
The signing of Sankhare doesn’t seem to make much sense at this stage and Forest should hang fire with adding any more players to their bloated midfield.
