Sabri Lamouchi has hinted to the Nottingham Post that both Arvin Appiah and Brennan Johnson could feature for Nottingham Forest in their Carabao Cup first-round tie against Fleetwood Town later this evening.
The Frenchman is expected to make a number of changes to his starting line-up tonight. Although, he has already spoken about the need to avoid a potential upset.
Lamouchi kept his cards close to his chest when asked about who he might play. However, he did reveal that two of the club’s brightest youngsters may be involved.
He told the Nottingham Post: “Maybe (Arvin) Appiah, maybe Johnson can be involved.
“But they still have the chance to play this season. I will give them some moments this year because they are doing great work during the training sessions.”
Johnson made his debut for the Reds when he came on as a substitute against West Bromwich Albion on the opening day.
The 18-year-old produced some impressive performances over pre-season, and looks more than capable of making an impact for the Reds over the course of this season.
In comparison, Appiah is slightly ahead of Johnson in his development given that he has already made seven appearances for the Reds. However, he is yet to make the match day squad this season.
Both Johnson and Appiah will need a big performance tonight, as it is hard to see where they slot into the starting line-up at present.
Lamouchi has a huge squad at his disposal and is likely to favour experienced players in the Championship.
However, this is a chance for the young duo to impress ahead of the visit of Birmingham City at the weekend.
