Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has praised Joe Lolley’s performances for the Reds so far this season.
The new Championship season may only be two games old, but some supporters have already been critical of the 26-year-old’s performances. The Reds have so far been beaten against West Bromwich Albion and held to a draw by Leeds United.
Lolley contributed with 11 goals and 11 assists in the Championship last season. However, he hasn’t been able to open his account for this season just yet.
The Reds did manage to pick up their first win of the season this week with a 1-0 win against Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup. Lolley was completely rested, which is an indication of how highly-rated he is by Lamouchi.
‘Lolley will be back’
And with the Reds returning to action at the City Ground this weekend against Birmingham City, Lamouchi will be hoping Lolley can return to his best and help his side secure their first league win of the season.
And Lamouchi appears to have sent a potential further warning to Forest’s Championship rivals this week by suggesting that the winger will be back to his best – although he did add that he was pleased with the performances he has produced so far this season.
“Lolley will be back, don’t worry about that,” he told the Nottingham Post when asked about the player’s start to the season.
“We are waiting for more from Lolley because he is a key player. He is really important for us.
“But game after game, Lolley will be back, don’t worry about that.”
It is going to be a huge task for the Reds to achieve promotion to the Premier League this season. But Lamouchi’s comments exude a confidence that suggests that he believes Lolley will play a key role if the Reds are to push for promotion.
