Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Arijanet Muric was in goal for Kosovo last night as England secured a 5-3 victory in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The youngster is on loan from Manchester City and last night’s game at Southampton’s home stadium, St Mary’s, proved eventful to say the least.
After seeing his side take a lead inside the first minute he then endured a horrid 44 minutes which saw England score five times past him.
The second half saw him perform slightly better. His team-mates pulled two goals back, whilst Muric stopped Harry Kane netting his 15th penalty on the spin by brilliantly saving his spot-kick.
It has been a strange start to the campaign for Muric. He arrived on loan from the Citizens looking to earn his first taste of regular first-team football.
He started the first games of the season but has now seemingly lost his place in the team to Brice Samba who signed from Caen in the summer.
The 20-year-old is by no means the finished article but that is the whole purpose of his loan spell. A long season lies in waiting and Muric will probably get another chance to prove himself at some point.
For now, he is the second fiddle and following last night’s performance against England, Forest fans have had their say on the youngster:
I’m sorry I’m not one to openly criticise players especially #nffc players. But I don’t see the point with Muric, he reminds me of David James In the 90s often going on walk about and not coping with the game around him. He may have potential but he will cost you a few points!

Muric has basically got the equivalent of farmers in front of him. I’m not sure this is a very good measuring stick as to where he’s at.

Be happy enough to send Muric back to Man City after this game #nffc

Not really sure if I’m happy for England or embarrassed for Muric 🤔

So having seen Muric play for Kosovo, I understand the pursuit of Brice even more!! #nffc

Hope Muric likes the Nigel Doughty Academy facilities…. Think he's going to see a lot of them this season! Good job we have padded seats on the bench now! Hate saying stuff like that, but, not done himself any favours, kids got 0 confidence! Also, too quiet and shy! #NFFC

Muric; He might end up a decent keeper but he has so many errors in his game and we can’t afford to let him learn his game at #nffc

I’m sorry I don’t care if he’s from city but muric is an awful keeper not a patch on samba. Give him back to City now

A shame about Muric, but I don’t see him getting a game for us anytime soon. Looks like dropping a clanger every game and doesn’t instil any confidence from what I’ve seen so far #nffc

Im not here to slate muric hes one of our players but yet again from a cross he just looks all over the place.
