Nottingham Forest ended Swansea City’s unbeaten start to the season in the Championship yesterday. Alfa Semedo’s late strike was enough to secure all three points.
The game was Forest’s first one back since the two-week international break, and the Reds were able to continue their unbeaten run in all competitions. They haven’t lost since their opening day defeat against West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground.
The Reds produced an outstanding first-half performance at the Liberty Stadium, but weren’t able to find a goal to show for it. Eventually, they did find their way through to earn another valuable three points.
Jack Bryan has looked at the performance of the players and marked their displays out of 10 for Seat Pitch:
Brice Samba – 7
The 25-year-old goalkeeper would’ve been expecting a busy afternoon. In truth, he didn’t have much to deal with.
Matty Cash – 8
Sabri Lamouchi had to bring him in to replace the injured Carl Jenkinson. It certainly didn’t weaken the Reds as he produced another impressive performance at right-back.
Michael Dawson – 8
The Reds defender once again looked solid and maintains his impressive record since rejoining. He’ll be a huge asset if he can stay fit for the entirety of the campaign.
Joe Worrall – 8
The 22-year-old has formed a solid partnership with Dawson. It would take a lot for either of the pair to be dropped at present.
Yuri Ribeiro – 7
Surprisingly replaced Jack Robinson in the starting line-up, but soon proved it was a smart decision.
Ben Watson – 7
Watson continues to impress despite his age. His unselfish play ensured that he kept things neat and tidy as he protected the back four.
Sammy Ameobi – 7
Unfortunate not to open his account for the Reds after being superbly played in by Carvalho in the first-half. He was much-improved from his performance against Preston.
João Carvalho – 8
The 22-year-old still isn’t fully fit but ran the show at the Liberty Stadium for 80 minutes. He will be huge for the Reds this season once he gets going.
Samba Sow – 9
Ensured that Swansea’s midfield didn’t get any time on the ball and that the Reds dominated throughout. Unlucky not to find the back of the net himself in the second-half.
Albert Adomah – 7
The ex-Aston Villa man was deservedly given a spot in the starting line-up for this one. He wasn’t able to continue his goalscoring run but produced another solid display.
Lewis Grabban – 9 – Seat Pitch’s Star Man
Erased any doubts about his work rate with a superb lung-busting run in the second-half to set up Semedo’s winner. An outstanding all-round display.
Joe Lolley (Adomah, 59′) – 7
Would’ve been disappointed to have been left out of the side, but made a valuable contribution to the win off the bench.
Alfa Semedo (Ameobi, 68′) – 8
Scored the vital winning goal and looked lively following his introduction.
Tiago Silva (Carvalho, 78′) – 7
Didn’t have a great deal of time to make much of a contribution.
