John Bostock became one of Nottingham Forest’s final summer signings when he joined the club on Deadline Day in August.

The 27-year-old was one of several new additions to be made after Sabri Lamouchi succeeded Martin O’Neill as the club’s new manager in June.

The Reds made numerous other midfield additions, including the likes of Tiago Silva, Samba Sow and Alfa Semedo. The performances of these players have largely left Bostock frustrated on the sidelines this season.

Bostock, who previously had spells at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, has shared an Instagram message which suggests he’s still pushing hard for an opportunity.

There’s no doubt that the midfielder has shown glimpses of what he’s capable of in the little amount of football he has played. He’s certainly got the potential to push for a place in the starting line-up on a regular basis.

At this stage, there are just other players who Lamouchi would find impossible to drop due to their form. The likes of Ben Watson have transformed into different players this season and have been performing consistently well.

Of course, the midfielder’s recent injury hasn’t helped his chances of getting in the side. He has only made three appearances for the Reds so far this season, with two of those coming in the Carabao Cup.

‘Back at it’

Here is Bostock sharing a message on his personal Instagram where he states that he is looking forward to this Sunday’s match against Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder will be hoping he can push his way into Lamouchi’s thoughts for this weekend’s game. He certainly has the technical ability to be a success. He just needs to ensure that when he’s given a chance, he takes it.

He isn’t the only midfield player looking for an opportunity to shine. Alfa Semedo is pushing for a game this weekend – whilst Ryan Yates also looks set to return from injury.
